April 2012

Aurelio Costarella

Designer: Aurelio Costarella
MONDAY, APRIL 30 TIME: 6.00PM

SS12/13 Inspiration: Renaissance, Botanical, Orientalism, Mystical, Fragile

What’s your favourite piece? Right now it would be a couture corset encrusted with raffia and bead embellishment with exaggerated peplum in ivory tones. My fave piece changes almost daily as I’m seeing new pieces materialise over the weeks. This is the most exciting time during the evolution of a collection.

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? Cate Blanchett coming back stage to congratulate me after my 2000 fashion week debut show and then naming my collection a highlight of the week. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Bigeni Blue

If you like blue, you’ll be very happy this season in Gary Bigeni. The leathers looked soft like butter, and melted into the silks and sheer knits. This season there was structure to his usual drape and bags to match the blue and caramel tones.
